Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has slammed John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), for refusing to
participate in a presidential debate before the general elections of 2024.
Speaking on Sunday, August 18, at the NPP's manifesto launch in Takoradi, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the party's superior performance in several sectors and suggested that this was the reason Mahama was reluctant to discuss.
Dr. Bawumia pointed out that Mahama's reluctance to argue stems from his knowledge of the NPP's remarkable accomplishments as a history student and previous president.
He also suggested that Mahama lacks the guts and self-assurance to jointly outline his goals and intentions with those of Dr. Bawumia, giving Ghanaians a clear option on December 7.
"It is abundantly evident from the information provided that we have outperformed my opponent and his party in terms of overall performance and track record. We are better in almost every field. However, I think that he is aware of this as a past president and a committed historian, which is one of the reasons he is avoiding a discussion.
Of course, there's also the matter of his bravery and self-assurance in aligning his goals with the authority he desires, as well as my vision for Ghana and the well-defined path forward to accomplishing the task at hand. On December 7, that is the option we are giving Ghanaian voters.
