Various secondary school principals are pushing for the elimination of some freebies associated with the implementation of the government's Free Senior High School program.
They think that doing so will relieve strain on government coffers, allowing the government to re-channel cash towards the distribution of food products.
A head teacher, who requested anonymity, stated that his kids are being served without protein and fruits since the school is out of these products.
He also feels that parents are willing and capable of assisting the government in feeding their children and should be given the opportunity.
"Free uniforms should be terminated, free church service clothes, breakfast and dinner should be taken care of by parents, not the government. And we keep on pounding this, and I don't understand this, since parents are capable of taking care of their children".
"This has transcended politics. We're talking about Ghana right now, and my school doesn't have a single can of sardine. "I can't recall the last time we served them eggs and fruits," a senior high school principal told Eyewitness News.
