According to the Joint Health Sector Unions and Professional Associations, all public health facilities will be closed by January 9, 2023.
This will occur if the government fails to exclude organized labor pension funds from the Debt Exchange Program.
It comes after organized labor threatened a public sector shutdown beginning Tuesday, December 27, 2022, over the debt restructuring decision.
Health organizations have approved the indefinite strike, which will result in the withdrawal of health professionals' services in stages.
Ghana Medical Association, Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, Health Service Workers' Union of TUC Ghana, and Government and Hospital Pharmacies Association comprise the Joint Health Sector Unions and Professional Associations.
They explained the strike's implementation strategy in a statement.
"By this communiqué, all health-care employees are urged to follow the road map outlined below to guarantee a smooth strike implementation:"
All out-patient services will be withdrawn on December 27, 2022.
Emergency services will be withdrawn on January 2, 2023.
All services will be discontinued on January 9, 2023.
