SUHUM MP GOES INDEPENDENT

The Incumbent Member of Parliament for Suhum Constituency, Kwadwo Asante, popularly known as Boafo, has declared his intention to contest the seat as an independent candidate. This decision comes after he lost the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary to Frank Asiedu Bekoe, also known as Protozoa. According to him, he has unfinished business with the people of Suhum as despite his defeat in the NPP Primaries, many NPP party faithful and the people in the constituency have urged him to run as an independent candidate. Despite top party officials, including Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong, attempts to persuade him to reconsider, he has declined to take this path to run as an independent candidate ending months of speculations. Hon. Kwadwo Asante made this declaration when he Addressed a large gathering of supporters after a health walk at the Suhum Amponsah Market. He stated that, his decision to go independent is not about his selfish interest but to heed the call of his constituents to continue his developmental work in the area.
