Founder and leader of the Movement for Change, John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has pledged to pay Arabic teachers in Islamic Schools. He said that if elected as president, he would introduce comprehensive interventions to improve the lives of all Zongo community residents. Mr. Kyerematen mentioned that the key among his initiatives is to integrate Arabic school teachers into the Ghana Education Service, ensuring they receive a regular salary for the vital roles they play in education.
He made this pledge at the launch of Zumunta, the Zongo wing of his party. “It’s unfortunate, that Makranta teachers are not considered as part of the Ghana Education Service, because teachers are teachers worldwide. I have also committed that when I become President, we will, make sure to integrate Makranta teachers into the GES.” Mr Alan Kyerematen criticized both the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for neglecting Zongo communities despite receiving significant support from them during elections. Mr. Kyerematen was greeted by a large crowd of supporters in Darkuman, Ablekuma North Constituency, as he met local leaders, including Chiefs and Imams, to mobilize support for his presidential bid. He urged the electorates to back him and vote massively for him to become the next President emphasizing the need for change and his vision for a better Ghana.
