BAWUMIA'S MEDIA ENCOUNTER POLITICALLY UNWISE- PROF. RANSFORD GYAMPO

Political Science Lecturer of the University of Ghana, Professor Ransford Gyampo described the media encounter of the Vice President and flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) last Sunday, as politically unwise. According to Prof. Gyampo, the Vice President Knows how poor the current government has governed the State and he claims he is not in charge, and the questions from level-headed personalities in such an encounter would expose him, he should have known the kind of responses he was going to provide in some of those instances. On Sunday, August 25, 2024, the Vice President met with the media to respond to some questions and clarify certain aspects of the party’s manifesto after launching it the week earlier. In his analysis of the responses given by Dr. Bawumia to most of the questions that were posed to him, Prof. Gyampo opined that the encounter, if thought through critically, shouldn’t have happened since it did not add anything to the Vice President’s quest of becoming President but rather the otherwise. “His responses, some of the things you could see that this one, he was just taking on the baggage of somebody who has misgoverned, and for me, it wasn’t too good. I don’t think it was achieved…, you’re looking for votes. “And so, I’ll advise, it’s a free consultancy, go to the people who vote, given the difficulties of the time, if you meet any discerning person, I mean the kinds of questions that they may ask, and the responses that you may give, given the fact that you were not really in charge, I mean, you may be a pale shadow of yourself,” he said on the KeyPoints on TV3 Saturday, August 31, 2024.
