The Member of Parliament for the Hohoe Constituency and Minister for Railway Development, Hon. John Peter Amewu, has laid his mother, Mrs Gertrude Anani Amewu affectionately known as Don't Worry to rest. Mrs. Gertrude Anani Amewu, who was a member of the Holy Catholic Church was aged 94 years.
Delivering the sermon for the burial Mass, Very Rev. Fr. Walter Mawusi Agbeto. The Vicar General of Ho Diocese admonished the congregants and the general public to live a life that would impact other people's lives to leave an unforgettable legacy just as Mrs Amewu has done. The eldest son of Mrs Gertrude Anani Amewu, Togbe Tom Amewu, reading the tributes on behalf of the Children and family, recounted how on many occasions, their mother embraced everyone into their home, encouraged and found a way to help those who encountered any difficult situation in life with the popular phrase, *"Don't worry,"
The Burial Mass which was held at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Hohoe was attended by the President, Nana Akufo Addo, the Vice President and NPP's Presidential Candidate, Dr Mahamoudu Bawumia, the Chief of staff at the presidency, Hon Akosua Frema Osei Opare and Minister of Finance, Hon Mohammed Amin Adam. Also, present to pay their last respect were, the Paramount Chief and Queen mother of Gbi Traditional Area, Togbega Gabusu 1V and Mamaga Agoe Dowutornyo 1, Ministers of state, Members of Parliament, and The Directors of state Agencies as well as the leader of the Movement for Change, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen. As part of the activities to honor a great woman, Hon John Peter Amewu is organizing a football match between Hohoe United FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko on the 29th of August 2024 dubbed Don't Worry Cup at the Hohoe Sports Stadium.
