Pensioner bondholders picket again at the Finance Ministry against the DDEP.

Members of the Pensioner Bondholders Forum returned to the Finance Ministry on Monday, February 13, to protest for the sixth day in a row, demanding that their assets be completely exempted from the Domestic Debt Exchange program.

The government has recommended a 15% coupon rate, but pensioners have declared that they would not accept any haircuts on their assets since the earnings from these investments are critical to their lives.

The former Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo, joined bondholders on Friday in threatening to sue the government if their pension funds are included in the debt swap program.

As part of the contentious domestic debt swap scheme, the government extended the deadline for bondholders to complete tender processes.

The application date for the program was Friday, February 10, 2023.
