Over 200 students from Wa Senior High Technical School have been stranded after a fire demolished sections of the school's main girls' dormitory complex.
The fire broke out at 8:00 p.m. last night, damaging five rooms and the girls' possessions in the one-story dormitory complex.
The assistance of Ghana National Fire Service personnel was required to bring the calamity under control, preventing the fire from burning the entire dormitory complex.
Assistant Divisional Fire Officer Iddrisu Imran, who led the team of firemen to the scene, said that the initial cause of the fire was unknown, but that his organization had begun inquiries into the accident, which had displaced over 200 girls.
"Around five rooms on the upper floor were impacted. The fire began to burn before we arrived. We're doing all we can to put out the fire. "There are no injuries; some of them were stunned and were sent to the nearest medical institution," he said.
