The Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational School in the Sekeyere East District of the Ashanti Region has been temporarily closed after students went on a rampage on Sunday.
The kids created a power outage, broke into the school's storerooms, and scattered food products.
Although the cause for the disruptions is unknown, officials believe the action might be related to the students' discontent with their predecessors' low achievement in the 2022 end-of-year assessment.
According to Ebenezer Kwesi Opoku, the Coordinator of Senior High Schools in the Sekeyere East District, around 40 kids have been detained by police for interrogation.
"The police have summoned around 40 of them for interrogation. According to unofficial sources, they are dissatisfied with the results of their predecessors. The school administrators met with the P.T.A. last Friday, January 20, 2023, and we were informed they were not satisfied, therefore that is what we have heard is the direct reason of the problems. "We're hopeful that the police investigations will reveal whether or not there was another cause," he added.
