Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the newly chosen Minority Leader, has told party members that he will do all in his ability to unite the Minority caucus.
The choice of Ato Forson as Minority Leader by the National Democratic Congress leadership has sparked dissatisfaction inside the party. On January 25, 60 Minority MPs signed a petition opposing his appointment.
However, 77 Minority MPs signed a second petition in support of his nomination.
The Ajumako-Enyam-Essiam MP addressed the public for the first time since his appointment on Tuesday, saying his first job is to unify the caucus to battle the NPP in Parliament.
"I had interesting and positive discussions with my older brother, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu. "I praise him for his great management when our party's leadership gave him the opportunity," Dr. Forson said.
The Minority caucus in Parliament is expected to meet today, Thursday, January 26, 2023, to discuss the leadership changes made by the NDC's national executives.
This follows the standoff amongst NDC MPs following the changes in leadership.
