Arise Ghana cancels a demonstration due to its struggling economy.

Arise, pressure group On Tuesday, December 6, 2022, Ghana decided to launch a statewide demonstration, but it has since changed its mind. The organization wanted to voice their opposition to the nation's economic problems.

After the Ghana Police Service filed a lawsuit to stop them from picketing, this happened.

Justice For Ghana expressed dismay with the Police's bad faith actions and the effort to restrict their democratic right to picket in a statement.

The Leadership of Justice for Ghana has made the extremely difficult and painful decision to postpone our scheduled public action before the hearing of the injunction application on Thursday, December 8, 2022. This is because we have the highest respect for the Court and its procedures.

We use this occasion to reiterate our dedication to the democratic values of our constitution and express our hope that justice will be served in this case and that the State will uphold our freedom to picket.

The Ghana Police Service requested an injunction against the event on the grounds that the location constitutes a threat to national security. The organization had planned to picket from November 15 to November 17, 2022, in Revolution Square directly across from the Jubilee House.

The Police maintained that there were plausible reasons to believe that convening at Revolution Square would jeopardize public safety and infringe on other people's rights and freedoms, according to assessments by the National Security and Police Security Intelligence.

The group has been instructed to picket at Independence Square instead after the High Court decided in favor of the police.
