Current economic crisis polls are distorted, says the NPP communications director

Richard Ahiagbah, the director of communications for the New Patriotic Party, has dismissed the rising unhappiness with the Akufo-Addo administration, which has been reflected in polls and recent protests.

Mr. Ahiagbah asserted on The Point of View that foreign factors contributed to Ghana's economic difficulties since "the whole world is not going in the right direction."

According to a recent survey by Global Info Analytics, 77 percent of Ghanaians think their nation is moving in the wrong way.

This occurs in the midst of debilitating inflation and high fuel costs that have angered many Ghanaians.

On the other hand, Mr. Ahiagbah said, "I think polling in this context is biased, to begin with, because people's emotions are in a specific place, so you are going to get a predictable answer."

The effort and dedication of the current government, which is for some reason affected by the global economic downturn, is what is truly important, he continued.

Martin Kpebu, the leader of the recent "Ku Me Preko" demonstration, criticized Mr. Ahiagbah's comments in response to him on the show.

Don't ever say anything in public again, Mr. Kpebu advised him, as more people would attack you the more you said about people being emotional.

"You say people are being emotional, but our savings, your money in the bank or beneath your bed, almost 60% of its worth is gone?"
