After a failed attempt to flee, suspects held by the police were re-arrested.

Three Nigerians and two Ghanaians make up the group of five people who were re-arrested after attempting to flee from the Awutu Bereku District Police Command.

Around one in the morning on Monday, the five suspects who had been imprisoned for a variety of crimes, including stealing air conditioners and mobile phones, attempted to break out of their cell using a chisel and a hammer, but the involvement of the on-duty officers stopped them.

The accused tried to flee court this week to avoid being sentenced to time in prison, according to a Citi News source.

The suspects, according to sources, had already shattered the metal bars of the cell and were nearly finished with their escape plot when they were re-arrested by the on-duty police officers. They had heard a loud noise coming from the cells and proceeded to investigate after hearing the noise.

They were then detained once more and transported to a different cell. However, on-duty police have steadfastly declined requests for comment.
