Reports that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo received jeers during a recent visit to the Ashanti Region have been downplayed by the Presidency.
Social media videos showed bystanders heckling the president's motorcade at the Kejetia market as be went there to oversee ongoing construction.
Eugene Arhin, the Jubilee House's director of communications, claimed he was unaware of the spectators' jeers.
No sounds were heard by me. Even the president himself was oblivious to the situation. When we saw that in the media, some of us were a little surprised," he stated.
Mr. Arhin also brought up the Global Citizen Festival concert from last month, where the President also received jeers as he spoke at the event.
"It is very similar to what presumably occurred at the Global Citizen festival. A group of people is doing their own thing while standing someplace, and they record it... However, once you are there in front, you genuinely don't hear anything.
