The Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) Market will undergo some changes, according to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA).
According to the government, independent food providers will now be in charge of managing the market's supply of food moving ahead.
Issah Alhassan Ridwan, the press secretary for the agriculture minister, noted that the ministry will oversee the activities to make sure that the proper precautions are taken, especially when it comes to the cheap pricing of goods.
The Press Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture said, "Once we have now established the various suppliers and they have agreed to do business with the PFJ market, what we are going to do right now is to allow these suppliers to be independent to operate, except that the Ministry of Agriculture will from time to time be monitoring the price, because the major factor when it comes to PFJ is the pricing, we want the consumers to be comfortable with the pricing."
The PFJ Market was established by the Agriculture Ministry in November 2022 to provide cheaper food to government employees on Ministry property.
Other regions of the nation, including Kumasi, Takoradi, and Cape Coast, were included in the initiative's expansion.
Many questioned whether the initiative would remain viable in the light of the associated costs and the impact it would have on traders in the various markets.
