Covid-19: The government advises against visiting China unless it is absolutely necessary.

The Ghanaian government has advised Ghanaians not to go to China since Covid-19 instances have increased in the Asian country.

In a travel advisory, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration stated that only necessary visits should be made until further notice.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry further announced that from Friday, January 6, all passengers traveling from China to Ghana would be required to submit a 48-hour negative PCR test and will be subjected to obligatory antigen testing at a point of entry at no cost until further notice.

Covid-19 instances have surged quickly in China in recent months, after the country's relaxation of Covid restrictions.

While official estimates place the number of Covid cases every day at 4,000, experts believe the figure is closer to 1 million. Analysts feel that official death tolls are also untrustworthy. The Chinese government's lack of openness, as well as the lack of confidence in what it says regarding its internal epidemic, has sparked worry throughout the world.

On January 8, 2023, China will relax its travel prohibition. During the peak of the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, China imposed travel restrictions.

The United States, Italy, Japan, Taiwan, and India are among the nations that have already implemented rigorous controls on planes arriving from China.

In addition, travelers from China to the UK must now present a pre-departure negative test.

Furthermore, the UK Health Security Agency will shortly begin monitoring a sample of passengers in order to keep track of any new varieties that arrive.
