According to a new study performed by Global Info Analytics, a polling organization in Ghana, 71% of respondents believe Ghana is heading in the wrong path.
According to the study, 60% of New Patriotic Party (NPP) affiliates disapprove of the country's current course, while 81% of National Democratic Congress (NDC) affiliates believe the party is on the wrong track.
On the subject of whether the NPP can "break the eight," 24% of people believe the party can, 59% do not, and 17% have no view.
According to the survey, the president's job approval rating has increased significantly from 26% in October to 32% in January 2023, while his disapproval rating has decreased considerably from 69% in October to 59% in January 2023.
The vice president has a 32% approval rating and a 58% disapproval rating. In the instance of Alan Kyerematen, 35% of voters approved of his performance as Minister of Trade and Industry, while 45% disapproved.
The sample size for the poll was 5,844. The sample size was assigned to each region based on the total number of voters in each region as per the 2020 Electoral Commission register.
The regional quota was then distributed to a random selection of 30% of seats from each region based on the total number of voters in each of those constituencies.
Random respondents were chosen from the streets, residences, and workplaces.
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Mr Kyerematen are deadlocked in the battle to head the NPP in the 2024 elections, with no obvious favorite.
The survey, which was conducted between the 31st of December 2022 and the 15th of January 2023, reveals that the contest to head the NPP is a dead heat among NPP supporters, with Dr Bawumia losing the slight edge he had over Mr Kyeremanten in October 2022.
However, Mr Kyerematen's lead against Dr Bawumia among general voters has shrunk from 41% to 32%, compared to 44% to 31% in October 2022. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Assin Central, is in third place with 14% of the vote.
The NPP has yet to announce a date for its presidential primaries in order to choose a candidate for the 2024 elections.
Mr Kyerematen, who resigned, is expected to compete for the position alongside former Food and Agriculture Minister Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto and former Railways Minister Joe Ghartey, who has also expressed his desire to run.
