Police issue a warning about a charlatan advertisement and urge the public to be wary.



 The Ghana Police Service is worried about the rise of illegal activities and get-rich-quick scams in the country.

It stated that the problem must be addressed due to the serious effects it is having on Ghana's security.

"The actions, which frequently begin with false ads on several mainstream and social media platforms, entice inspecting members of the public, including youngsters, and trick them into engaging in questionable behaviors in the goal of being wealthy overnight," police said in a statement.

According to the Ghana Police Service, the increase in such operations has contributed to major crimes such as defrauding under false pretenses, abduction, and murder.


It therefore reminded the public that "charlatanic ads are not merely immoral but unlawful and punishable under the laws of Ghana".

As a result, broadcasters and operators of different electronic communication networks have been advised not to display such commercials on their channels.

However, the police department promptly informed the public that it was prepared to cope with the issue.

"In order to fight this scourge, the Police Service has strengthened its enforcement activities across the nation with eduction of all essential stakeholders on the stance of the law on the topic"

."We would like to remind the people to be aware of charlatanic marketing in both mainstream and social media, and to collaborate with the police to safeguard the safety and security of all persons as we fight to preserve peace and order in the nation," the statement went on to say.
