According to the administration, approximately 450 Ghanaians who were stuck in the United Arab Emirates in August of this year were repatriated.
The people who were stuck "were misled by dishonest agents who offered nonexistent opportunities in Dubai and other regions of the United Arab Emirates (UAE)," according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity institution in Dubai and other kindhearted people, according to the authorities, helped fly 80 victims back into Ghana.
The statement said, "Also, in September 2022, on board Egypt Air, 20 Ghanaians were evacuated with the assistance of a person and friend of the Government of Ghana, Mr. Abdul Rarsak-Daheer.
The government also reaffirmed that the ban on Ghanaian labor migrants being hired directly to homes in Gulf states remains in effect until further notice.
However, the statement continued, "The ban does not affect the lawful recruitment of skilled workers (non-domestic house helps) to the Gulf States."
Since traveling illegally nearly invariably results in unfavorable outcomes, the Ministry recommends traveling Ghanaians refrain from doing so.
