The Appointments Committee will hear from 4 Supreme Court nominees today.

Later today, on October 18, the Parliament's Appointments Committee will hear four candidates the President has proposed for positions as Supreme Court judges.

The Public Affairs Directorate of Parliament made this information public in a statement.

The judges up for consideration are Justice Ernest Yao Gaewu of the High Court, Justice George Kingsley Koomson of the Court of Appeal, Justice Samuel Kwame Adibu Asiedu of the Court of Appeal, and Justice Barbara Frances Ackah-Yensu of the Court of Appeal.

The four candidates were put forth by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for appointment to the Supreme Court bench in July 2022.

These nominations were made by the President to fill anticipated vacancies on the Supreme Court.

Following the notice that was submitted to him from the Presidency in July, Speaker of the House Alban Bagbin forwarded the names to the Appointments Committee for review.

Additionally, interested individuals and groups were asked to submit their memoranda about the nominees to the Clerk of the Appointments Committee for review.
