Gideon Boako: Bawumia is not running for president to accumulate fortune.

Dr. Gideon Boako, Vice presidency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's spokesman, says his boss is not running for presidency to accumulate a fortune.

During an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Citi TV's Face to Face, Dr. Boako stated that Dr. Bawumia is in politics to alter the fortunes of the nation, not to dip his hands into the public purse.

Dr. Bawumia, according to Dr. Boako, is a unifier who will unify the NPP if chosen as the party's flagbearer in the 2024 elections.

"In terms of ideas and vision, I believe Dr. Bawumia has been the most influential person in our politics." A vision with which you can identify. Politics has shifted to a politics of ideas, therefore you need visionary leaders who are highly organized and motivated. You can tell by their actions that they are not in politics to accumulate a fortune for themselves. However, they are involved in politics to guarantee that things run smoothly. That has been the Vice President, ensuring that everything is done correctly. "The people see him as a unifier," he said.

Concerning the tribal cards being played by some of his rivals, Dr. Boako stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) must capitalize on the gains it stands to make in its strongholds if the Vice President is chosen to head the party in the 2024 elections.

"While there will be no motivation for an NPP supporter in the Akan area to say I won't vote for Bawumia because he's a Northerner and I'm going to vote for a former President John Dramani Mahama who is also a Northerner because the NPP has a candidate who is not an Akan."

"In your strongholds, you may solidify your gains. Then you abandon Dr. Bawumia and Mr. Mahama to battle in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) strongholds from where they both hail. In addition, determine whether your candidate will have a competitive advantage over the NDC in his own backyard. That is where Dr. Bawumia's strength comes into play. Dr. Bawumia has wielded considerable power in the North to the benefit of the NPP."
