Alan did not come up with the notion of a paperless port; Ohene Ntow lied - Gideon Boako

The spokesperson for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Gideon Boako, has categorically disputed that the previous Trade Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, was responsible for the Paperless Port policy.

According to Dr. Boako, Dr. Bawumia deserves credit for the Paperless Port program, not anybody else.

His remark comes in reaction to Nana Ohene Ntow, a former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who claimed on Citi TV's Face to Face on June 13 that Alan Kyerematen should be acknowledged for the effort.

However, in a follow-up interview on Face to Face on June 20, Dr. Boako called Ohene Ntow's views "lies" and stressed his lack of expertise about government matters.

"He [Ohene Ntow] has no idea, ignore all those comments, there's no need to respond, they're all lies." Don't believe everything you hear. Nana Ohene Ntow is never close to the government, and he has no idea what goes on there.

"I'm not sure why they're claiming credit for something they didn't actually participate in." He [Alan Kyerematen] was not present at any of the meetings we held with port personnel and freight forwarders. "In terms of digitalization, I honestly didn't see Alan Kyerematen's interplay," Dr Bawumia's Spokesperson remarked.

Dr. Boako further stated that at Vice President's conferences, officials from other countries were present to discuss the Paperless Port program. He confirmed that Alan Kyerematen was not present at those meetings.

"Ask ordinary Ghanaians what they associate with the Paperless Port." Because of the internal elections, I don't need to delve into it. "I was with the Vice President when he paid an unannounced visit to the port, and it was during that visit that he made that policy initiative."He [Dr. Bawumia] stated that he would visit them, connect with the challenges, and then provide the policy; he then presented the Paperless Port. We hosted a two-day paperless port conference in Ghana, bringing professionals from Belgium, Dubai ports, and all the top ports, including Singapore.

"I'm sorry to inform you that the former Trade Minister [Alan Kyerematen] was unable to attend this conference." All of these proposals were introduced by the Vice President."
