The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will elect a flagbearer and parliamentary candidates ahead of the 2024 general elections at its presidential and parliamentary primaries on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

Concurrent presidential and parliamentary primaries will be held, according to a schedule issued by the party on January 5 following the party's Functional and National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

According to the schedule, nominations will be accepted from February 22 until February 24, 2023.

Forms must be submitted and filed between Monday, March 20, 2023, and Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

The schedule further said that the applicants will be subjected to screening between Monday, March 27, 2023, and Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Aspirants' appeals will be heard from March 30 to April 6.

In the meanwhile, a filing charge of GH 500,000 with a nomination cost of GH 30,000 has been proposed for presidential hopefuls, while a fee of GH 5000 with a GH 40,000 filing fee has been recommended for parliamentary forms.

The party further said that all appointments, regardless of status, must serve through May 2023. However, executives at any level are urged to raise the issue if they have a unique circumstance involving any appointment.

Before the 2022 elections, former president John Dramani Mahama, former finance minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, and former metropolitan chief executive of Kumasi Kojo Bonsu are anticipated to compete for the position of flagbearer.
