The Ghana Education Service (GES) has expelled eight pupils from the Chiana Senior High School in the Upper East Region's Kassena-Nankana West District for uttering disparaging remarks against President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
It will be remembered that in a viral video last year, eight pupils were seen making disrespectful remarks against the President and his free SHS policy.
Following their transgression, the National Management of the GES issued a statement condemning the incident and apologizing to the President on behalf of the students, school, and members of the public.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has expelled eight pupils from the Chiana Senior High School in the Upper East Region's Kassena-Nankana West District for uttering disparaging remarks against President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
It will be remembered that in a viral video last year, eight pupils were seen making disrespectful remarks against the President and his free SHS policy.
Following their transgression, the National Management of the GES issued a statement condemning the incident and apologizing to the President on behalf of the students, school, and members of the public.
However, following lengthy investigations into the kids' behavior, the Director General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr Eric Nkansah, authorized the removal of all eight pupils from the school in a letter dated November 29, 2022.
According to a letter sent to the parents of one of the children, her behavior was "extremely unpleasant and opposed to the appropriate norms of behaviour normally demanded of any student in our Educational system in Ghana."
The GES advised the students to view their expulsion as "a key turning point in her life" that would "bring about the desired change in her behavior and attitude toward life."
