Beginning on Wednesday, December 14, the Ghana Health Service will start immunizing persons who have not yet received the Covid-19 vaccine.
The most recent vaccine campaign, which is scheduled to continue for 5 days, is intended to stop a potential increase in Covid-19 cases before, during, and after the Christmas holiday.
This iteration of the campaign, with the slogan "Protect Yourself, Protect Your Family, Get Vaccinated Against Covid-19," is anticipated to immunize around 1.4 million people between December 14 and December 18, 2023.
At a media event, Dr. Patrick Kumah Aboagye, director general of the Ghana Health Service, urged the populace to ignore claims that the Pfizer vaccine that was to be used during the time period had run out.
He asserts that the vaccine's life expectancy is 15 months, not 12, as previously thought.
"Pfizer's current expiration date is 15 months, not 12, as previously stated. The claim that we are giving out outdated vaccines is untrue, according to Dr. Kumah Aboagye.
The GHS has also stated that the Covid-19 preventive procedures already in place at the airport for travelers have been reinforced in an effort to cut down on the number of cases that may enter the nation.
