In response to US President Joe Biden's invitation, Ghana's delegation to the US-Africa Leaders' Summit was led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Sunday, December 11, 2022.
The Summit is anticipated to "show the United States' lasting commitment to Africa, and will underline the importance of U.S.-Africa relations and enhanced cooperation on shared global issues," according to a statement from the Presidency.
The First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchey, the Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, the Minister for Works and Housing, Francis Asenso Boakye, MP, the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, MP, as well as officials from the Presidency and Foreign Ministry, were all present.
The statement continued, "The President will return to Ghana on Saturday, December 17, 2022, and while his absence, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia shall, in conformity with Article 60(8) of the Constitution, operate in his place."
