Today, the minority will introduce a motion to vote against Ofori-Atta.

Today, November 10, 2022, the minority in parliament is anticipated to introduce a vote to reprimand Ken Ofori-Atta, the minister of finance.

The Finance Minister is mostly held responsible for the nation's current economic problems, according to National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs, who also accuse him of going outside the bounds of his official duties.

If this resolution is approved, President Akufo-Addo will have to sack his treasurer.

Ahmed Ibrahim, a deputy minority chief whip, stated that his party has spoken with a portion of the majority caucus and is prepared to move.

"We are still speaking with the 95 people. The majority of them are aware that they must uphold their honesty. The greatest approach to improve Parliament's reputation is to ensure that they vote and follow through on Thursday, the speaker added.

However, the Majority caucus has made clear that it strongly opposes the resolution.

Will be whipped into line, according to deputy chief whip Habib Iddrisu.

"I have it on good authority that the Majority caucus will not support a motion that the Minority actually brought, notwithstanding how well-intentioned it may be. They are well aware that they lack the necessary numbers to advance the motion. Therefore, they are on their own since we will start using the whipping system.

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has released a statement in the meantime requesting that its lawmakers abstain from the vote.

According to a statement from the NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, neither the party nor its parliamentary side will support what they call an untrustworthy move by the other side.

The Majority Caucus whips, in particular, are to make sure that no Majority Caucus member participates in this exercise by the Minority Group in Parliament, according to a statement from the NPP.

According to the ruling party, the vote of censure is "ill-intended and designed to derail government's efforts to resolve present socio-economic upheavals."

In their move for the vote of censure, the Minority cited, among other things, the economy's general mismanagement and ethical issues.
